Well, it's beat up and ugly and has a chip out of the back, but I love it. Snaps like a trap and is put together better than any Schrade.treefarmer wrote:Dragunski,

I wish the long blade was still a spey, I'm pretty sure it once was. And the fish? I thought it was called a "long bomb" shield!

A very nice NYK, Dimitri; understated elegance. All the old NYKs are top-notch, as you well know, and yours is very low mileage to boot!

If I were you, I would try to carefully remove the pink paint. Maybe you could try Q-tips with a little paint thinner. That knife would be almost perfect without those little splotches of paint. I don't think the thinner would hurt the blade finish, if you kept it away from the wood handles.
It's a gorgeous jack with nice ebony handles, really good shape.

That color you are seeing in the picture is a reflection from a red LED on my camera, I had to tape it off on the camera to get rid of that reflection in my more recent pictures. That picture was taken a few years ago.Dragunski wrote:f I were you, I would try to carefully remove the pink paint. Maybe you could try Q-tips with a little paint thinner. OK - I'm a dummy. I should have realized...
But it didn't look like a flash reflection, and I've had a number of knives that were used by painters. It's terrible when you carefully remove the paint and find a rust spot underneath. Much better to just have a shiny hole in the patina.
I'm not real crazy about wood handles, but that one's something special.

Re: Post Your "Hammer Brand" Knifes !!!
Received this knife as a gift from a family member.
Would like to know more about it. In my research attempt, I only found one other like it.
However, it was in poor condition It had a broken blade and was very scratched.
How much is this knife worth?

Thanks John! That is a very nice Jack you have I like the shield and the match strike long pull on the primary. What are the handles? Look like cocobolo with the red in them. Very pretty. Lloyd

Very nice Lloyd and John! Don't see a lot of NYK Hammer Brands with intact blade etch! At least I haven't.

This arrived recently in a group of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. It's a HAMMER BRAND, 2 blades, 2 tang stamps, 2 1/2" closed, pocket knife. It has either the 1936-1937 or the 1938-1941 tang stamp. Certainly not the prettiest pocket knife. I did what I could with it, took some pictures, here it is.

It's a HAMMER BRAND, 2 blades, 2 tang stamps, 3 1/8" closed, pocket knife. It has either the 1936-1937 or the 1938-1941 tang stamp. Not in bad shape at all. I cleaned it up a little, took some pictures and here it is.

Re: Post Your "Hammer Brand" Knifes !!!
Recently, this pocket knife arrived in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. It now becomes the latest example to join this topic or thread and to also join my general pocket knife collection. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, it did turn out to be a keeper. It is a HAMMER BRAND, three blades, one tang stamp, 3 1/4" closed, two springs, pocket knife. The tang stamp says "HAMMER (over) BRAND (with the flexed arm & hammer) and also a vertical USA on the side. According to the tang stamp chart, it dates to circa 1945-1955. Overall, it is in EXCELLENT condition. All I did was wipe it off. I took some pictures and here it is.
