even more simplicity

Post by FRJ »

I bought this nice knife a while back along with an Opinel. It's about as simple as it gets, but it is well made and solid and tight. A friction folder. It was pretty dirty so I scuffed it up with a 3M pad to brighten it up some.
I don't know what the stamping means. I assume it was made in France.
It's 4 3/16" closed. Someone made a poor attempt at sharpening a long time ago.
I think I'll sharpen it and put it in my kitchen apron.
Do any of you collectors have one of these?

My brother used to build a version of those, i'll see if I can get a pic of one. His had an extension that came off the back of the spine that curled around and snapped around the stop pin when you opened it. It wasn't his design, i've seen some very old versions of the same design.
Cool ol' knife, Joe!!

Joe, it looks like a good BBQ apron utensil to me.
Definitely has some Opiesque features.
Just a wild guess but from the blade stamp
I'd say it was made by Marie in Tennessee.
I only have one sharpie that may be as
simpleristic as yourn. No name on it either.

Joe, from what I could find in the AAPK archives
I think it's called either an eyes poker or an ice picker.
Hope this helps 8)

That clears everything up, Wosey. Thank you.

It looks to be in fine shape for an ice pick.

Maybe you could test baked sputatos with it.

Tater tester sure sounds better than the other suggestion I got in an anonymoose PM.
Ear wax remover. Think it was from J.R.-just a hunch.
