Well then I'm stumped. I looked these up and found some random pictures and a thread in bladeforums. Not an EOD, but still not quite standard. Either was its really nice ::tu::

Today's pickups from a little local gun show.
Pleased with the haul, all unsharpened and nice.

Does the end of the box say 8ot or 8ot rb?
Box is ink stamped 8OT RB.
Well shiver me timbers...

Guess I'll have to add another 8OT version to my must get list. ::dang::

It won't end, there's too many variations. I will never be able to stop buying 8ot's and other schrade stocks with the same frame as long as I live ::doh::

Greg, what model of Case Trapper are those - looks shorter than an 07 pattern (guess that could be an optical illusion). All three are nice looking. OH

Fine looking knives Greg, and in a Case pattern I wasn't familiar with. Must be a pocket full when front pocket carrying (the 54 pattern is bigger than my preference for EDC). OH

OH they are a handful, probably a better back pocket knife than front. ::nod::

Greg, there is no # 40 pattern in Steve P.'s book. Is the 6240 a "Case Classic" ?

I'll look forward to seeing your pictures - just got my first 6318HE this past week. I have several 18HP's, but you don't see nearly as many HE's. OH

Kj this pattern was discontinued prior to 1940 and was reintroduced in 1986. It was placed back into the "Case Vault" as they say in the early 2000's. If you click on research at the top of the page then click on Case pattern identification by number you will find more info.

Thanks Greg for info on knife & how to use "Research" tab; first time i've tried it.
I had thought that Steve Pfeiffer had every Case pattern in his book, so good lesson for me to not rely solely on his Case guide (which is excellent, well worth owning).

These showed up in Saturday's mail. The Colonial Barlow has some patina. I am really impressed with this 3 1/4 inch trapper from RR. Setting aside the indifferent jigging, in all other ways it is a little gem. Excellent walk and talk, half stops, bank vault solidity.
