It should be about 4 1/2 closed and might be a 6111L pattern? I might be wrong,,just going by my memory. But Case did make that style of knife with the same shield. I've had a few Case Bros, and a WR. Case in the past.

What is interesting is that it doesn't have a clip blade - appears to be a spear blade. If it is just under two inches it could be a 6116. otherwise the 6111.

I would hold on to it either way, its worth several big bucks!

Sargent's Guide to American Knives and Razors has sections for the early Case Brothers and WR Case but does not provide a complete listing of patterns made. There are quite a few photos of pre 1920 knives but none exactly like yours. There are about a dozen pics of 6111's and 5111's, but all are either sabre or clip blades and none have the same shield as yours. There are a half dozen or so photos of knives of different patterns with the same shield.

This is what I was looking at too, I think the spear blade makes your knife very interesting. (Possibly rare) I believe that most of the 6111 in sargents were listed at between $ 300 and $ 700 for mint maybe more, I don't have the book in front of me now.
