WESTMARK?

Post by woodrat99 »

I got this gem from an old timer I did some plumbing for, he wouldn't let me leave without it. I love it- however had never heard of Westmark knives and had no luck with Google. Does anyone out there own one or have any info about where it was made, history, etc..
It is 10 inches overall.

Hey woodrat, Your knife was made by the Western Cutlery Co of Boulder Colorado. However your knife was actually made in Longmont, Colorado from 1977 thru 1984. In 1984 Harvey Platts sold Western to the Crossman Airgun Co and to the best of my knowledge model 701 went out of production then. Hope I helped a little ::shrug:: ,Mike

Thanks guys- Mike, you told me more than I knew before. I thought Western- but never seen Westmark before. It's always good to add another name to the catalog!

All I can add is that Smoky Mountain Knifeworks has recently had some Westmark tangstamped knives. I think they have the trademark licensed exclusively now.

1984 WESTERN WESTMARK STAG BOWIE KNIFE USA 701

I have 2 of them that come in wooded wall display.

If you want to buy one I can help you with that.
