Knives by Weiler?

Post by Paladin »

In a batch of knives I recently acquired I got two knives stamped WEILER/YUMA. They are beautiful with what looks to be carved ebony handles. Custom leather sheaths that also are stamped with his name.
I haven't found much on him except that he may have been president of the Knifemakers Guild and he seem to have passed.
If any has more info, I would appreciate the input. What do these sell for? I didn't find anything much in eBay.

Everything I can find seems to point to his work being "one off". I haven't seen two of the same knife posted anywhere.

Lovely knives and the craftsmanship that has gone into those handles is amazing!
You are very lucky to pick them up & probably as close to a matched pair as you are going to find.

I have an 'ideas' file where I keep pics of knives, handles, sheaths etc that I may have a go at making '"one day" ... these pics have gone straight in there. ::tu::

Thanks guys. I thought sure that someone here would know all about the guy and what his knives were selling for. Whatever it is, they are some beauties.
I sure appreciate your input. I think I'll post over in Q&A and see if I can stir up something there.

Howdy Ray...he was from Yuma Arizona...well respected...passed away back in 2008 at age 78
I would guess that pair to be in the 300.00 a piece range, I would not start much less
I have never heard nothing but good things about any of his work

Thanks Stagman. I normally start everything at $9.00. I don't want to scare everyone off,, bidders I mean.
Think I'd be safer at about $200 or so?
