Case Fixed Blade Knife 1920's ??

Post by PCwizard »

I'm looking for a project fixed blade, I came across this one, someone already re-polished and re-handled it. The handle looks bad, so ripping off the handle and starting over with better handle material would be a good idea. I'm just checking to see if the pros think the blade is a real Case model or is it counterfeit. The tang stamp is older then 1932 I think. The case website doesn't show any fixed blade stamps older then 1932.

Blade looks good to me, however I think it is a Case XX (1940 - 1964) stamp. Agree with rehandle assessment.

I believe if it were a Tested Era blade, then the word Tested would likely be in the stamp. Examples I have seen that are earlier than Tested were marked as such including bolster stamps.

Jerry is correct. Here is a 1920-40 tested stamp for fixed blades.
