Case x2055 ?

Here's one that really has me perplexed. A tested shield, a XX blade and what do you suppose those handles are.
Of course it's been certified by the National Knife Museum and valued at $250.

Long pull and closed C shield could put it as an early XX era "transition" knife. I'm drawing a blank on that handle material though

Obviously a post-factory rehandle but I have no idea what the material is.

some kind if burl wood maybe.
