The shield is wrong for a Tested knife and I can't tell from the photo but it almost looks like the handles are delrin.

Shield looks like 1970s. Bid already over $300! No wonder there's so many counterfeit Cases - easy pickings. ::teary_eyes::

Auction ended with no bid: starting price of $375. I do not have to worry about being taken in by counterfeit knives priced at over $100 dollars since I never bid over $100. I guess that is what is called a mixed blessing ...

That stamp is a very good example of what a pantograph stamp looks like. Notice the dots at the end of each stop point of the bit. Little holes left where the bit bored deeper into the steel. Actually this is a terrible pantograph. I have seen way better fakes. See the last picture of the OP knife stamp.

Same seller also had this POS offered but it did not sell either.

He needs to use the tommygg101 tactic. Start them at $.99 and let the deal sharks feed.

For those that don't know this is a pantograph machine.

They also come in this form that does not need a stencil to duplicate from.

Wayne, thanks for the links. Now finally i see what a Pantograph machine is and how it can be used to replicate old tang markings.
With the 'high tech' machine do you load a picture of the marking and then the device replicates it on steel (or whatever material you want) ?
Are the 'bulbous' ends of every character line always present ? or can a skilled user eliminate this tell tale sign ?

KJ I have seen pantoghaphed marks that were far better than the one shown. This is a good example of what to look for but someone with experience will do a better job. Besides the drill dots at the letter ends the rotating bit will leave a swirling effect in the channel it creates. It is harder to see but magnification can show it.

I'm not sure about the newer CNC type machines and what can be done with them but I would guess they can do a much better job.

Thanks Wayne.
At $2,500 the CNC Pantograph is likely too expensive for a knife 'mechanic' working on his own.
If there is a shop that employs a few knife mechanics all working on faking collectible knives, then i could see that a CNC Pantograph would soon pay for itself.

The stamp looks correct, either a welded blade onto a good tang or a replacement blade. The front handle is wore more than the back. the back handle more than likely is from a 9 dot knife. The "christmas tree" looking jigs with the yellowish ends is usually a 9 dot.

I respectfully disagree regarding the authenticity of the stamp. IMHO the stamp is bad.
