CASE $1.00 KNIFE
Case never made a $1.00 knife. Remarkable that this knife is getting this kind of attention.

I'm amazed that Tommygg still gets the kind of bids he gets. These can't be experienced collectors. Perhaps this a sign that knife collecting is becoming wildly popular unfortunately the new novices are learning a hard lesson.Tsar Bomba wrote:US $207.50 34 bids

Re: CASE $1.00 KNIFE
I have not followed this seller's listings. Does he list all original collectible knives as well as the fakes ?
Are his fakes well put together from a fit & finish aspect ?
I ask this because i have encountered collectors who only read the markings and thoroughly believe the knife to be exactly what they happen to say. As long as the knife is well put together they are happy with it.
This ebay seller might have a following of these gullible easy to please collectors.

Re: CASE $1.00 KNIFE
I've seen some knives of his that I THINK were authentic, however, in my view, it's a fool's errand to try to separate those rare authentic knives from his prolific fakes (and I mean BAD fakes, generally).

Re: CASE $1.00 KNIFE
I'm new to the site. I inherited my Grandfather's knives in 1969. He did not collected knives but rather had tools, each knife served a purpose. In the 138 knives I inherited there is a 25 cent, 50 cent & 1 dollar case knives all look like the knife pictured only not near mint condition. Knowing that the $1 dollar is older than 47 years is it also a fake?

Re: CASE $1.00 KNIFE
Hi buddha,
what a great first post. Welcome to AAPK, a most friendly helpful & diverse group of knife lovers.
PLEASE: post some pictures of this $1.00 Case knife that you have had since 1969. It is important as there are many here who want to see this knife.
Pictures: entire knife, blade open, both sides (2 pictures) and then a close up , enlarged, of any markings on tang blade or handle.
138 knives ! your grandpa liked knives even if he did not think of himself as a collector. There could be some very collectible knives in this group.
Please stick around and after the $1.00 Case, show us some more of the 138 grandpa knives.

Re: CASE $1.00 KNIFE
kootenay joe, thanks for the welcome. I will get my grandson to take some pictures for me this weekend. I have had three heart-atacks, 13 stents and a stroke. I am no longer able to do much myself. What I do not know about knives greatly exceeds what I do know.lol

quote buddha: "What I do not know about knives greatly exceeds what I do know."
that statement is true for every person here. The body of knowledge that comprises "knives" is vast, almost as infinite as space.
The fact that you recognize the limitations of your knowledge is what is important.
Because knife knowledge is so vast there are knife forums like AAPK whose function is to provide opportunity to share the little bit that each of us knows & thus we learn from each other.
I suggest that you start your own thread maybe in the "Knife Lore" forum, and post pics of a few knives at a time and then wait for some input from others before posting the next group of knives. They could for example be grouped by brand: all Case together, then all Queen, etc.
These are suggestions only. You are free to present your knives however you want to.

Re: CASE $1.00 KNIFE
Anyone have a picture of the Case Classic $1.00 knife ?
I have never seen one in fact until now did not know they existed. I'm guessing it does not resemble the OP knife ?

Re: CASE $1.00 KNIFE
I am not familiar with the Case Classics as to pattern but all should be dated.
I believe Jim Parker had some 25, 50, 75, & 1.00 knives made in Germany in the 80's or 90's. They had wood handles and a lot of times were passed off as vintage knives.
I firmly believe Case only made the 25 cent knife during the tested era, 1920-40 and Dave's knife , (Mr Blister)'s knife is a fine example of an authentic 25 cent knife

Re: CASE $1.00 KNIFE
Looks like one of the Case Classics toothpicks Roger (peanut) mentioned previously. From the picture I see "94" on the tang, which I'm guessing is the year of manufacture, i.e. 1994.
