Two beautiful knives pictured above, both connected with the Case family , same pattern. To my untrained eye the same knife other than the tang stamps. My question is to a knife collector who collects knives not brands, which is the most desirable? I realize this is highly subjective. Thanks for any input. ::tu::

It could be that the Standard has thinner blades. Just a guess. It certainly has better bone.
The Case is very solid with half stops. I would guess the Standard copies that.

My understanding is that Case used the Standard Knife stamping on a less expensive line of knives. For instance, I can't remember seeing any with shields. Maybe the liners or blades are thinner, however, they all seem to be standard Case patterns.

Also, apologize to olderdogs, I guess I didn't read his post closely enough as he had already noted that it wouldn't be too bright to fake a Standard Knife if you could fake a Tested and I think that this fact answers bighomer's question about the relative desirability of the two stampings.

Here are three Standards with shields. A different kind of shield to be sure.
They must be glued into the composition scales.

In my experience a Case stamped knife will sell for more money than a Knife made by Case but not stamped as such. As to Which is more desirable that is up to each individual collector! ::tu::

Nice looking knives ,Joe

Well that was what I was wondering about, as I understand it a well known stamping will trump a not so well known stamping no matter the rarity to most collectors. thx. By the way Joe those yeller knives with the glitter shields are beautiful, there's one for sale in the aapk store and if I wasn't so scared of celluloid I would buy it. ::tu::

That is a beautiful looking knife. I only have two Standard Knife Co knives:A large picture handled leg knife in not so good shape and a dealer's sample butcher knife.

Great looking Standard Knife Co (WR Case) you have their Knifeforever! That is a wonderful way to get start your postings here on AAPK, welcome!

Joe, great comparison with the 6235 1/2, that is a beauty you have there.

Lawrence, I really like the shield on that little one. It looks really goon on that serpentine pattern.

I think Tom has really summed up all the major points here.
