Handle pin on a R1240

Post by wornoutwrench »

Anybody ever seen the top pin this close to the bolster? I know they are not that close on the 2 examples I have. The knife looks cleaned but not otherwise worrisome.
Thanks

Can't say that I even see a handle pin near the bolster. I have seen quite a range of handle color in R1240 barlows ranging from a light tan to very dark brown but the color is not as variegated as it looks to be on this knife.

I don't see a pin anywhere near the bolster.

Its there, kinda in that flake. I cant understand why anyone would do that, much less the factory. I guess you would have to look inside for a second hole. Other side is the same way.

Now I see it, in the picture of the other side. I only have one old Remington Barlow. It has a small pin 1/8 of an inch from the bolster. I've never seen one in this location.

As mechanized as the Remington factory was I find it hard to believe this pin location. Bone shows no saw cuts though bone can wear to this point. I still don't like the variegated color of the bone. Yes, it would be interesting to look inside the frame.
