I just read that knife and it said:

"I'm not really a Tested Trapper after all. Sorry"

If you know Tested knives at all you shouldn't have to look any further than the stag. NEW.

It looks personally to me like 76' to 78' CASE stag. If I had to narrow that I would say this is a 77' 5254 Trapper, based on the 77' stag I own and have seen, with replaced blades. Look at the pic #11 of the backspring view of the knife. The center pin is not even close to being spun close to the scale. Sticks out on both sides at least 1/16" to 1/8'. One side of the pin appears not to even have a head on it.
Been apart and cobbled in my opinion but no expert here.

Could be wrong but that is what jumps out at me with a limited knife read. Regards, Jerry

How can you see what he has purchased previously? I went to his feedback and then as a buyer and none of the items he purchased were available to view. I didn't think you could make your purchase history private if you were selling items. ::shrug::

I think the posted knife was made out of a modern Queen trapper. Note the narrow lower bolster. Note the main blade shape which is different as compared to XX and newer Case trappers.

The Queen #19 trapper tooling resembles Case Tested era 54 tooling more closely than does the tooling for newer Case 54 patterns.

You are right on, the first thing I check on all Case trappers is the lower bolster.

I ask this guy about the knife and this is what he said:

Dear larryw2444,

I was told this was an old parts knife, new scales..... I have had this for 5 to 6 years at least.. and I've got a lot into it.....

I added this to my watch list. It's at $304 now and reserve not met. Interestingly enough he posted your question and reply but failed to mention any of that in the initial description.

Will be checking to see where it ends up.

Well this beauty finished at $800 plus $8 shipping. It is one thing to not be able to read the knife but another altogether to not be able to read. The seller posted his reply saying it was a parts knife and it still sold for crazy money. Yes, a parts knife with all new parts.
