I don't know about fake, but I sure never saw handles do that before. Is it a rehandle, if so, what is that stuff. I mostly posted because of the $75 BIN.

that is extreme deterioation to say the least, but that is a very nice whittler, i don't know about the $75 though. up to the eye of the beholder i guess..i also like the way he states there is some seperation of the handles and the sides of the knife
everything else looks in good working order. but not for that amount.
edit: he's also selling a butt buffer for motorcycle seats,,,, now he's talking my language

I wonder if someone tried to clean this knife a little too aggressively?

It's more like ......end of party ...than end of day. What some people will do.
It was a nice knife. I'll bet it still could be salvaged.

I've just never seen any handle material do that! That's why I wondered if they'd been replaced with a material i'm not familiar with. I know it's not, but it almost looks like expanding foam insulation. I think there is a decent foundation there, but $75 is pretty steep for a fixer-upper. In fact that's a might more then i'd give for the knife, if the handles were in excellent condition.

You may be on to something there, Mark! But, I think my 6 year old grandson could do better job of it then that!

I usually try to grab a shot off ebay and post it so we will know what we were talking about later but that one is too ugly. I took one look and backed out of there quick.
