Case Tested 6488 On Ebay

Post by Aimus Moses »

Here is a fake Case Congress 6488 pattern. Wrong jigged bone, wrong blade finish, wrong everything. Ebay item #160554218649 (Mod can add a link if they like). At least the seller does admit it's a fake but, people are still bidding on it... ::shrug:: ::shrug::  It's really true, some people have more money than they do sense. ::nod::

These normally sell for $40 - $50 in the "underworld" . Most likely an "altered" Frost .

Someone will but this and then sell it at a profit to a unsuspecting person at a knife show.

There was a maker that passed away a few years ago that made old Case models with that jigging and SS blades. He was from this area and made everything from Peanuts to Congress to Whittlers. Besides the jigging, he always left one dead give-away that his knives were fake. Maybe the wrong stamp for the shield or the model number on a knife that shouldn't have had one.....always something. I can drive a few miles East and find folks that knew him well, but I never found out why he insisted on doing nothing but making obvious fakes of Case knives. He usually sold them for $20 or less.

This one is so bad that it's funny. They sure have ruined the Tested era market. You either have to know the seller or get to see it before you buy it. I have a 3" banded stag canoe with the Case Tested tang stamp that I use for a refrigerator magnet.

For that price, the camera should come with the fake knife and the box display Paul. ::nod::
