Utica Kutmaster Barlow all dressed up.

Post by orvet »

Over the years I have had a love-hate relationship to composite stone when used as knife handle material.
Whenever I can get it put on a knife without crumbling, cracking or shattering into a million pieces I feel it is a success.
It is easy to cut and easy to drill but it also chips and cracks quite easily. I had this piece laying around the shop and I thought it would dress up in Barlow quite nicely.
It may not be my absolute best work, but I still think it turned an old ordinary Kutmaster Barlow into something a little special. I hope you think so too.

Looks awesome Dale. But that composite stone stuff just scares me. I would skip the drilling and use the 330 epoxy that many stone workers use to rehandle knives. Maybe someday I'll tackle some stone handles. Good job! Those old Kutmasters look real good all dressed up! ::tu:: ::tu::

Thanks guys. It does look nice, it is just a pain to work with.
I think for every set of those handles I put on successfully, I broke a second set of the handles.
I always had to order those handles in pairs in case I broke one (or two) scales while installing them. ::doh::

That's a nice one Dale! You sure are turning out some nice work! ::tu::

Everything you've posted up in the last couple of months made me stop and say wow. Extra good job.
