Only One Henckels

Post by jerryd6818 »

I only have one Henckels pocketknife. It's a J.A.Henckels that I picked up early in my accumulating. That was when I was a little younger, much dumber and quite a while before I realized that "one of everything" was not an attainable goal.

That's a good looking model which was probably made by Boker after Henckels stopped producing their own pocket knives.

Quote Jerry: "quite a while before I realized that "one of everything" was not an attainable goal."
That is exactly what my initial goal was and i have never seen anyone else until now state it. By the time i got to 10,000 knives i realized i was less than 1% towards my goal, so i gave up and began to focus on certain brands, one of which is Henckels.
Lyle, that is a very fine Henckels made knife. I have never seen one of these available. I think it is rare at least here in North America. They likely are more in Europe.

Like everyone else who posted here, I too only have one Henckels knife, this trapper. I bought it from a dealer at a local flea market for $10. The color of the handles as well as the price appealed to me. Seems to be a very well made knife and I carry it occasionally. It is tang stamped on the back of the main "HK-17-T HAND FORGED STAINLESS". The handle material appears to have shrunk in length as there are gaps at both ends on both sides. This would be of recent manufacture? And what is this handle material?

Henckels has not made a folding knife since 1960. The Henckels made folding knives are distinct, they do not look quite like a Boker or K.C., etc.
Most of them are heavily built like the one wlf posted above. Most do not have pattern numbers.

This one has shrinkage and warping of the handle material as shown in the photo. Is this some unstable material like celluloid?
