Re: ANTIQUE HOLMBERG FOLDING BARREL KNIFE WOOD BURL SWEDEN

Nice one, I also could manage to get one. I have an Engstrom, a bit more worn out than yours and with a more 'simple' wood but still not all that bad. BTW, I did some search about barrel knives and found this article: (just in case some one is interested in) http://reviews.ebay.com/SWEDISH-BARREL-KN...

Re: Old and Obscure Brands

Do you know if the plant is still active? No, like many companies of the GDR they went out of business after the reunion. I have just started to look a bit closer into this company, so here is what I got so far: GML was founded as a cooperative of cutlers from Nixdorf (now Mikulasovice/Czech Republ...

Re: Herr Kneissler knives

Here’s the site of Kneissler Messer: http://www.kneissler-messer.de/ProduHerst.htm Hope this is the Kneissler your are looking for. As for the knives, I got a wood marker (Holzreißer) and a shepherd’s knife (Schäfermesser) from there. I like them somehow, but you should consider that they are crude ...

Re: New Eye made from old parts

This knife is still / also available at Friedrich Olbertz’ online shop: http://www.pocketknives.de/shop/carl-schlieper-auge-trappermesser-1016i-p-204.html They have a very good service, so you could ask them about the old part thing. According to the history-page on the Olbertz site, they started ma...

Re: Hen And Rooster ?

I’m still working on getting some facts together about H&R. What I found yet: The H&R brand was originally owned by the C. Bertram Reinh. Sohn Company of Solingen from 1864 – 1983. As they went out of business, the brand name was bought by R.Klaas (Kissing Cranes) Somewhere in the timeline t...

Really??.............Well,I think there should be MORE light shed on the origin of knives...In fact a spot light!! Can’t agree more and I also want to know exactly where my knives are made. Re: Do high quality Marlin Spikes actually Lock?

I have a Rough Rider Marlin (RR 557) and the marlin spike locks perfectly. However, the sheep foot blade is a slip joint so it isn’t meant to lock. So if the spike on your knife doesn’t lock correctly it might be broken. There are also pattern of marlin knifes with non-locking marlin spikes. Accordi...

Re: Single Blade Locker - The Perfect Knife for the Modern World

For EDC I prefer one blade, two handed lockbacks with a more traditional lock and feel, like this one: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/images/forum_archives/vv76-_Thomas-_Opera__N02.jpg However, I have some one handed lockers as well: http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv76/_Thomas/Knives_1/One...

My first Queen Cutlery knife

…and my first post here as well, so hello everybody. I managed to get this nice Toothpick: http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv76/_Thomas/Knives_1/Queen_1.jpg It’s in mint condition, though the bolsters are already a bit dull and blotchy. I think it’s an older version of the large toothpick that is...
