Re: Rehandled 10 dot?

I'm curious how much leeway Case employees had in shield placement. Was it according to a placement template or whatever looked best? (within reason) :)

Rehandled 10 dot?

Did the 10 dot folding hunters have the shield placed this close to the middle of the scale? Looks odd being that far away from the pivot.

Glad to see it's not being sold as original, but it's too bad the same might not be true next time.

I was under the impression the 225H has 2 blades. Am I wrong?

Re: Red bone or green?

Yeah, tough to tell from the pics. I don't want to drop the coin to find out either! So, how many handle materials did Case use on these during the XX era?

I'm not aware of any wooden handled ones from the 40-64 time frame.

Red bone or green?

From the pics it looks like red, but it seems in a couple to be closer to green. And how does a fellow tell? I don't want to buy it just to find out, as I already have a couple of red ones. If it was green though.... ::nod:: http://cgi.ebay.com/CASE-XX-6265-SAB-HUNTING-FOLDING-KNIFE-GREAT-CONDITION-...

Re: Pulled the trigger on a hunch...

Thanks guys! I've gained enough knowledge of Case knives (and knives in general) from the great group of people on this website to almost consider myself dangerous now. ::tu:: This is THE place to be to accomplish that. Friendliest and most knowledgeable group on the web! I read and occasionally pos...

Pulled the trigger on a hunch...

Okay, frame style says 40-64, looks like red bone, not bad shape... but I wasn't sure of the lanyard hole. Looks factory, but I don't think many were produced that way in that time frame. Any thoughts are appreciated. Guess I'll know more when it arrives. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...

Re: Canal St. problem

The Winterbottom with a bail... boy, where do I start! LOL! It's a Queen brand, 1973-1975 tang stamp. Delrin handles, custom (?) hacksawed jimping on the main blade, aftermarket bail with a MUCH larger hole in the handle for the bolt to go through... ::dang:: Oh, did I mention someone tried to doubl...

 My wife, (gotta' love her!) wants me to make another shelf that size for the oddball knives. The coke bottles, barlows, copperheads and such. (and I've been thinking of down-sizing a bit!) ::shrug:: :) But I always do as wifey says! ::tu::

Just got my abalone handled, liner lock, single bladed folding hunter (1 of 25) in today's mail. MY GAWD, ::ds:: is that thing gorgeous!!! That's my problem. Re: Anyone know stuff about Buck Creek knives?

I now own 2, having just got a redbone handled swing-guard in today's mail. The other one is a "Diamondback" stockman, also redbone, dated 1996. Both appear to be made in Germany by the markings, but the older stockman looks to be miles ahead in the fit and finish dept. Just nicer and smoo...

Re: Ebay purchase... what did I get?

Thanks! I have been concentrating lately on looking for brands I don't already have. I have a few other Case hunters but no old ones. Best thing was my wife was sitting right here when I won it and said, "Oh, cool!". ::tu::

Ebay purchase... what did I get?

I saw this with about 17 hours left and no bids. I put in a low bid to see what would happen. Well, I got it and now am wondering what it is. Looks like a 1940 to 1964 6265 SAB with red bone handles and an overly-sharpened secondary blade. Any thoughts? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&...

Case folding hunter, I'm stumped!

Looks like a clasp knife blade in a folding hunter frame aka "Boss", but did Case make a Boss with stag handles? http://cgi.ebay.com/CASE-XX-STAG-FOLDING-HUNTER-5165-1-2-/160446693361?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item255b5e3ff1 Yes, I'm thinking of buying it if I can get...
