0f sets i,ve noticed the majority seem to be folding hunters or regular trappers. most of these were in thelate 80s &early 90s. i think some were butter beans [ canoes. ] if you pick up one of the canoes, checkout the great flat grind.HiPower

hopefully you can find s&z of any pattern-i've seen less than 15 since the late 70s.tested one stock pattern from ray roe about 2011. i use cardboard to check edge endurance & s&m was only brand to equal & surpass the straight line carbon eyes. i could'nt hardly get that knife to get...

thank you mr. royal I really appreciate information from an expert.most of the floor finishes I worked with since the 80s were acrylics & you really appreciate their durability in schools & sororities. I think many of auto top coats were also acrylics. HiPower

first grip was so smooth I could hold it at an angle & when depressing axis lock the blade would close by itself. grips have been a huge success for bench & rightly so. light weight with good alloys & a superp smooth locking system. in general I've found bench pays much more attention to...

FOR myself i think the dmt diamond stones are the way to go. there are many devices one can own but if one considers the time it takes to edge a knife, diamonds are foremost. rockwell hardness is one major factor in blades but wear resistance is also very important in deciding length of time & d...

i always considered the endura as the best buy from spydie. my zdp189 cuts longer than most of their offerings in s30, s60 & s90. i think their factory has shortcuted the heattreat on these super steels. HiPower

Re: Here's one for you....a what is it?
i started seeing these type eyes around 1990 at the gun shows. it appeared to myself that the blades & other components were very possibly surplus pieces from the old plant that had been assembled in the u.s. edge holding qualities certainly indicated blades from as early as the 60s & 70s. h...

paladin certainly drives home a good point. my brother snapped the blade apart of an eye back around 1980 & told myself that brand was a poor knife since he could'nt open a pop top beer. it took a while before my repeated tests cutting cardboard showed him of eye brands the superior edge holding...

Re: A Buck Creek Nightmare
the buck creeks in carbon steel from the 80s were great edge holders-- some of the celluliods did off gas. sometimes even big names in cutlery miss a beat. 6 months ago i bought a spyderco that was'nt heattreated. the factory redid the blade & 3 rockwell indentations indicated that the first tes...
