Forensic Jim wrote:I can't date it, but are those ivory handles or celluloid?
I'm going with celluloid handles Jim. Sorry Big Mike I can't help with it's age or value. It sure is a nice keep sake by being from your Dad or Grandfather. That's makes them priceless the way I see it.

Knife Condition

I know this has probably been talked about before on here and it may sound more like a poll than a question. Do you consider an unused knife that's been polished by hand with any brand of polish to still be in mint condition or a mint knife? A shiny polished blade looks like new but with a good glas...

Re: new GEC easy open

GEC is still a young company. I'm not saying their rookies but I do think when they get things lined out they are going to be hard to beat. The F & F and pattern designs may be a little problematic at first but they have got the blade steel down pat! I've gotten brand new knifes out of the box o...

Re: Case Barlow - Does this blade go with this knife?

I would say anything is possible Phil. I'm sure there's been an error or 3 that's gotten by Case's Q.C. The reason I said a blade replacement is not only the wrong pattern number but the angle of the blade in the open position. Where the blade meets the back spring it has the blade pointed in a more...

Orvet, you have a fine looking grandson there! He must have took his looks after his Grandmother. I have no way of posting a picture but I look a little similar to you. A little more hair on the top, not as much grey in the mustache, tattoo in same place but on the left arm, and I only wear m...

Re: bunch of dumb questions from a newbie!!!

For cleaning up an old rusted knife, I use a fine scotchbrite burnishing wheel on my baldor buffer. The tangs can be cleaned up eaisly with a dremel tool and scotchbrite wheels (available from any jewelry supply - I buy them 10-30 at a time on ebay) As I do a lot of these, the dremel tool, with var...

Re: Case Barlow - Does this blade go with this knife?

I'd say that Johnnie is right. The 6235 1/2 is Case's small swell end jack knife. It's one of the patterns I collect. My guess would be that barlow has had a blade replacement.

Re: Did ya ever lose a knife as a kid?

Good find T_T. Most folding hunter patterns come with the large clip blade in the back, yours has it in the front. Did the secondary blade come with it's point like that as well or was it modified? Your lucky, I've lost a few before that I'd really like to find.

Re: KaBar collectors club knife list

Sorry guys, I aint no help on your Ka-Bar knifes. I figured since everyone was talking Ka-Bar on this thread I'd ask a question about a couple that someone might know the answer to. The knifes in question are the Ka-Bar lock back with wood handles that looks like a Schrade LB7 and the Ka-Bar with wo...

Re: new GEC easy open

The long pull spear blade is what I like most about the looks of the new EO, even if one isn't needed it still looks good on the knife. The down side is the big etch on the blade and it's small size. 3 3/4 to 4 in. is the sizes I think would be nice with this pattern.

Was any other well known German Cutlery companies involved or connected to Buck Creek knifes? I had a few Buck Creek knifes but they weren't in the patterns I was looking for so sadly, I sold them to buy some knifes that were in the patterns that I collect. The Buck Creek knifes seemed to be good qu...

I totally agree with you muskrat man. The future I see with this new administration is it's not going to be gun friendly.
