Got your PM on this,tried to do some homework but couldn't find too much.Some swordsmiths came out of WW2 and had to find some related work,made scissors,kitchen knives and carpentry tools.This looks better than the average,Is the mei in Japanese or English.

Looks like a diamond lap Scott,the type you would use to touch up carbide lathe tools.Bottom line...whatever you need to sharpen,give it a shot.

Delrin scales,a different opener(yours is either a two piece or has that secondary grind)it has a round shield(missing)and the bolsters don't have the groove.The star stamp was I think used until '64,think mine is at the late end and yours may be earlier.

I have this one and the smaller one with mother of pear scales.Someone about that time said that maybe the blades or at least some of the frame parts were older.Looking at them though you can see they were newly made knives,kinda disappointing but non the less a well made knife.

At the flea mkt this morning,woman had a few Schrades with delrin handles,I prefer the older bone,I actually left then came back later,all still there so I took a second look and spotted this.......

I have a bunch of those blades,the heat treater was stuck with a load of blades from Schrade when they shut down(I understand they may have been scrapped)The driver for the heat treater dropped off an assortment one day.

Epoxy is one of those adhesives that I don't think there is any solvent for once it is cured.You might wanna try dental pics(carefully)
