Re: Old Butcher knife

Yep,,,,I luv them big ol' butchers myself. I like the maintenance, sharpening them to a razor's edge and oiling them down. Here's one we have put back, from my wife's family.

Re: Got Whittlers ?

TM- mine is similar to Don's,,,,the brass spacer will move up and down to where it touches the springs, but it does not move side to side. Blades seem ok, no side wobble and snap is decent, not gator snapping strong, but decent. The bolsters seem ok, can not distinguish any length or size difference...

Re: Got Whittlers ?

Thanks Don. No, there is no blade wobble on mine either. Maybe this was how it was designed in the manufacturing process. I have an inquiry into Boker. Just killing me, cause I want to sharpen it! But holding off until I hear back from Boker. Does your brass piece move just a bit when the the blades...

Re: Got Whittlers ?

I just received today, a new Boker red smooth bone 3-blade whittler, model no. BO280SRBI. Beautiful knife, but one issue is the center brass piece at the end joint, that separates the 2 small blades. It actually moves a small bit and does not close up flush with the end joint when the 2 blades are c...

Re: What do you use to lubricate your pocket knife?

Mineral Oil (lubricant laxaxtive). All Walgreens had was this huge bottle (32 oz.). Will be able to do a whole-lotta lubing with this stuff unless I need a good dose for myself. ::barf::

Re: TL-29 Electricians Knives

I like the old TL-29 camillus as well. What type of steel did they use? Seems hard to sharpen when brand new, but once you get the profile down a bit, they can be like a razor.

Re: Opinel

roger that. I keep 2 of the Opinel paring knives in the kitchen to a "scarey" sharpness. Wife is almost scared to use them. Have to keep the band-aids handy. Just have to make sure they are cleaned and a touch of mineral oil after each use,,,,,that rust creeps on them so easily.

Boker knives - missing emblems

Was curious,,,,why do we see so many of the older boker knives that have the emblems missing in the front scale? Is there a manufacturer where you can purchase replacement emblems? These are the round emblem with the tree logo.

Nice one there Cowboy. Light you up one of those Cohibas by the fire on a cold winter's night and oil down the joints.

Here is mine from the Santa man.

If you sit in a recliner (Lazy Boy) or similar chair, check deep down in the sides, even on the floor under the recliner,,,,,when I lose mine, that's the first place I go.
