History of Chicago Cutlery pocket knives
I'm posting a picture of two knives that I've acquired recently. Both are Chicago Cutlery Stockman pattern. I've tried to find some history on Chicago Cutlery folding, or pocket, knives but I can't find much. I found one little blurb that said they were only made for a shorttime in the 80's (Chicago...

Re: 1985 KaBar Collectors Club knife
Thanks Camillus and danno50 for your responses. Now I know a little more about that knife. I paid $132 for it on ebay so I guess I overpaid a little but, you know how that goes - I just really wanted that knife. Thanks guys - Cliff

1985 KaBar Collectors Club knife
I'm posting some pix of a knife I bought on EBay recently. A 1985 KaBar Collector Club - Dog's Head Barlow. A really pretty knife. There is no pattern number tang stamp, and I'm wondering what the handle material might be. It's a real dense material polished to a super smooth sheen. Does anybody hav...

1st run Case knife
I received a 2006 Case India Stag pen knife - pattern 33 - for Father's Day. It's a "1st Run", and "1st Run" is engraved on the front bolster. I think that means that the knife was one of the first of that particular configuration to come off the production line - but why is that...

Case Collector Club Knife
I occasionally see a Case Collector Club knife on Ebay. A lot of them are etched "Junior Member" on the blade. Are "Junior Member" knives less collectible - or less valuable - than the regular Case Collector Club knives? Cliff

Re: Chicago Cutlery knife
Hey "Philco", it only has/had one blade. "Smiling knife" noted that the blade was repinned. That maybe explains why the shield is on what appears to be the "wrong" side of the knife. Usually it's on the same side as the tang stamp. Whoever repinned it must have reversed...

Chicago Cutlery knife
I recently bought an old, well worn Chicago Cutlery pocket knife. It has become one of my favorites - I guess because I grew up in Chicago during the 30's. But, I don't know a thing about Chicago Cutlery's history. I seems like today Chicago Cutlery is really just kitchen knives made in China. Does ...

Re: Diamond Edge Display Case
Hey - Mr. Remington Collector - Thanks for your interesting post. Like Froggy says - a recent thread on displaying knives in the partially open position discusses the pros and cons - mainly cons - of doing that. Pen & Toothpick also notes that your find - knives displayed partially open for 30 y...

Re: Display knives with blades open ?
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts & comments on my original question. As I read all your comments I tried to figure out what to do with my knives. I've reached a personal decision that I think will work for me and I want to share it. Just this morning I asked myself - "Why do I collect...

Re: Display knives with blades open ?
Hey Mr. Gunsmoke 47 - Thanks for your comment. I was wondering if anyone had displayed knives in the partially open position, and what their experience was with that. But, being a newbie, I didn't understand some of the stuff in your post. Could you help me with terminology. You say that you display...

Re: Display knives with blades open ?
Yeah - I can see that - with the blades fully open there would be no stress on the spring. But, I'm still thinking - - folding knives display so much better with the knives at 45 deg or 90 deg. And, some of my knives have two blades at the same end with etching and/or tang stamps on both blades. So,...

Display knives with blades open ?
I'm a new collector and need some advise from you expert guys. I now have about 10 knives in my collection, and my wife gave me a display case for my birthday. Most of my knives are mint or close to it - and I would like to display them with blades open - to show off the embossed stuff on some of th...

Queen Canoe
Another knife I recently acquired is this Queen Canoe pattern (pic below). I just like this knife so much - I think it's beautiful. But, I have the same question on it that I just posted on the Camillus knife. Is there a way to "date" a Queen knife? And, on this knife the blade is etched &...

What's the story on Wostenholm knives
I just bought a knife on Ebay that I really like. It's an I*XL knife by Wostenholm. I hadn't heard of Wostenholm until I saw this knife so I Googled "Wostenholm Knives" and really couldn't find out too much except that it's an old English Cutlery Co in Sheffield. I don't know if they are s...

Questions on old Kabar knife
I recently bought an old Kabar pocket knife at an estate auction. It was dirty and grungy - probably old I thought - but it cleaned up pretty nice. But I'm a newbie collector and I'm wondering about two things. Is there any way to "date" a Kabar knife? And, what is that kind of dagger like...
