Re: R Werner custom Boker
I would answer this but I already did. Yep. Sure did and I appreciate it. ::tu:: I posted this on another forum and it kinda died. I had hoped to get a little history on Werner but it seems to be a less than collectible item. It's aesthetically appealing and functional so It'll see some pocket time...

R Werner custom Boker
Hi all. I spent last week on vacation in Morehead City, NC. I stopped at a pawn shop outside Morehead (in Havelock) I found a Boker single spring Half Whittler in stainless. Upon inspection I found the following: http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg135/Rupestris/Boker2.jpg Stamped: R WERNER 2000 AD...

I think I'm going to give a Case Full Size Trapper a try (if Santa has me on the "nice" list). I think I'll go Stainless this time.

Todays flea market find, and Imperial Frontier 4622
I guess I've been pretty lucky lately. I picked up a Case at a yard sale and a KaBar Peanut (from our own PAKnives at the Thursday auction) recently. Both set me back $15. After finishing today's Honey-Do list I decided to run down to the local flea market just to browse. As proof of my intentions I...

Re: How many knives do you own?
I'm not sure what I'd do with the number of knives some of you have. I have somewhere around 50. That's fixed and folders. Modern and classics. The desire to buy them by the dozen is always there but the funds are usually low enough to keep me in check. ::tounge:: Maybe after the nest is empty I can...

SWIFT Sure Wish I'd Finished Training... The phone number where I work is one number off Schneider Trucking's phone number. On the back of their trailers there is a sign that reads "Drivers Wanted - 1-800-44-PRIDE". It amazes me how many people read that then get home and can't ...

Can't say I speak for anyone else but I can't seem to resist Imperial Frontier knives with the powder horn.
Nothing spectacular in the fit & finish department but they're some tough dependable knives.

Re: We all collect knives, but what else do we collect???
Thanks guys. Those happen to be somewhat rare as they were promotional editions from Standox (a German paint company now owned by DuPont). Is NASCAR still as hot as it was or has it sort of petered out? NASCAR has petered out a bit. The market is just flooded with low end junk. Just look at the amou...

Re: We all collect knives, but what else do we collect???
I used to collect diecast cars but have moved away from that hobby. My wife has her small Jeff Gordon collection but I've got rid of all my racing and less expensive stuff. Kept these four because they cost too much to give away to the neighbors kids or nephews (where most of the other stuff went) a...

My only Cattaraugus. These pics were taken right after I brought it home. I've cleaned it up a bit but nothing that would wreck it. Looks like a 6233, if closed lenght is 2 5/8". Just a guess, great find you lucky dog. Yep. 2 5/8" and confirmed a 6233 on another forum. I figured that there was some wear and it was used that the paper was probably not original. It'd have been nice though. Thanks again everyone. I'm fee...

Re: Yard sale find - Case
Thanks a ton everyone. I really appreciate it. This past week I've been reminded twice that my love of traditional pocket knives shouldn't have been allowed to die out like it did over that past year or so. That's one lucky day! ::ds:: The Case was the second part of my lucky spell. At the beach las...

Yard sale find - Case
Hi everyone. I haven't posted here in too long. I let my pocket knife lust fade but I'm back now. I went yard sailing this morning. Stopped at one that had a few tools and fishing gear so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask - "you wouldn't have any knives you'd like to sell, would ya?" The o...

Great tutorial and ::tu:: on such a nice shop! Thank you much. Next, the blade will be heated to 1860 degrees. It will be held at that temperature for 30 minutes, and then taking out of the kiln and air quenched. This blade is 440c stainless, so it can be either air quenched or oil quenched. Air is ...

Re: As promised, my Rough Rider review
Overall: I guess I'm not exactly sure how I'd rate these so... Are they worth the price? - Yes Are they destined to be collectors items? - I don't see that happening but I've been wrong before. Are they decent, user quality blades that surpas what I expected from China? - Yes How would I rate the F&...

Re: As promised, my Rough Rider review
On to the Tiny Trapper. As you've seen In the pics in my original post, it is a tiny one. The Tiny Trapper displays the same belt sanded finish around the edges and polished bolsters and slab sides. F&F on this one borders amazing (for the price - keep that in mind). It too has half-stops but un...

Hi everyone. Its been a while since I posted. A while ago there was a rather long thread regarding Rough Rider imports. I had posted that the Tortoise shell Peanut looked kinda interesting. Re: My new Rapid River Timber Cruiser hatchet
Thanks Dale. I forgot to mention, its A2 tool steel. So far, no word on hardness. Made right here in Michigan. I'm sure the tang goes fully through the leather but I'm not sure how far into the antler it goes. Being left handed, and the hatchet having the antler base in that position, it gives an ex...

Good gawd thats a sexy 1911! I currently have a Kimber Target model. I love it for a lot of reasons but theres just something about it.
