Re: WW1 LA BALKANIQUE?

French and English have a connection with this war : both have send military force again Ottoman

and this kind of model (lebalkanique/ le vengeur... and so on) was not specially made for military and sold too for civilian (you can see here the beginning of the marketing :-) )

Re: WW1 LA BALKANIQUE?

I confirm the age of this knive "lebalkanique" is a trademark registered the 8th april 1914 in Thiers (french equivalent to Shieffield or Solingen). this name is surely linked to the balkan war (1912-1913). it's a "couteau à palme" (palme is the metal piece which locks the blade)...

Re: FRENCH SWITCHBLADE ?

i don't find this ref in the databases
i think it's a "DOURIS CHASTEL" (see at the bottom of this link https://www.lecouteau.info/technique-te ... atiques-1/ )
DOURIS CHASTEL is "born" in 1942 but it's can be right with what you write at the beginning of this post

Re: FRENCH SWITCHBLADE ?

i'm curious of this knive, is it a automatic or just a level to unlock the blade ?
the shape look like modern "navette" knives ( see ISARINOX knive or BEGON knive or Douris Chastel knive for example )
but the majority of them have more than one blade.

Re: FRENCH SWITCHBLADE ?

there is lot of customization with douk-douk : this is a cheap knive easy to change (blade shape, handle and so on) with handle material : https://www.google.fr/search?q=douk+douk+custom&client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwirvYHHjcDTAhVBnBoKHb1kBRAQsAQ...

Re: A French folder?

i've made some research, your knife seem's to be an "alpin" - Grimaud is a deposed trade mark between 1914 and 1959
Grimaud[1].jpg
you can see history of alpin here : http://www.coutelleriegrenoble.com/couteau%20alpin.html
