Re: Buyer's Market ???

I, too, do most of my buying on eBay and I have very much noticed a drop in both prices and bidding activity. Knife Nut , the OP said premium knives were an exception to this, and to me a $650 knife (or even a $200 one!) qualifies there. There are exceptions, however. I've noticed Camillus-made Moor...

Re: Center Pin Questions

I have three Queen slimline trappers and all three are cracked in that area (and a few other examples as well). The handle material is a bit thin there but even so... As to e a42 's reply, how about this: 1. Peen the handle pins into place in the liners. 2. Assemble blade(s), backspring(s) and liner...

Center Pin Questions

I've been thinking about knife design, especially the way handles are attached. We are all familiar with the 2 pins per handle + the backspring pivot pin that goes through the entire knife. I am wondering if that pivot pin really needs to go through the handles. I have noticed that if a handle is cr...

Re: Need help to identify unusual two blade knife

If you think about it, the extra width would give you excellent leverage for cuts that require the blade to be twisted or "scooped."

Hard to believe  someone found some Abalone shells; large enough to re-handle this Case toe. Nice knife wanted to bid but went up to fast; :( looking at the bidding pattern makes me wonder. ::paranoid:: Paul http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200410305775&ssPageName=S...

Re: Boker Tree Brand Knife

::welcome:: to AAPk; I am sure there is someone here that can; tell you what you want to know. Just a guess; I would say made in the 1970's ; and as Dale said it's a nice old German Boker congress. With a value of $45-$65; but belonging to your grandfather I am sure the value far exceeds that. I ha...

Re: TWO 6318 knives back from case

Yeah, Case does good repair work.

I have a red bone canoe with the script logo and the C came loose. I sent it in and they not only replaced the C they also cleaned up the light scratches the knife had from being carried.

Now it looks like new!

Re: EDC

I just picked up one of those Loveless design folders from Lone Wolf on flea bay.

I really like it; decent steel and the blade has notches that index on half & full open.

Good size for carry, too.

MOP is more fragile and harder to work with; that makes it seem more exotic to me.

Re: Cleaning a knife handle with color scrimshaw

I have used mild dish soap and warm water with a toothbrush to clean scrimshaw with pretty good results.

Cleans out the dirt & grease without dulling the ink.

Re: Canal street question

I didn't allow my less-than-perfect first experience with CS to stop me from picking up an ebony half-moon pie from forensicjim , and it is a beauty! Good snap, solid blade well-centered, and I love the silver pins and liners with those black scales! I guess any firm can have a bad day or two. The g...

Sharpest knife I ever bought?

So I broke down and picked up one of the new Buck black pearl Corelon canoes on the 'bay. Nice knife; reasonably good F & F, very inexpensive (under $20 shipped) and incredibly sharp! I use whatever carry knife I have on me to open mail and this guy zips through envelopes like there's nothin' th...

Re: favorite pocketknife?

Is this a trick question? I like the canoe, copperhead (with one blade) and slimline trapper (also with one blade; think Canal Street Half Moon Pie) patterns the most, but I've also been known to carry a regular trapper, stockman, a copperlock, a bullet (GEC)... Definitely a trick question! [Edit] A...

Re: Question for Case Collectors

I think you will find folks reluctant to weigh in on pricing beyond what can be pointed out in a recognized source. Knife pricing is pretty subjective; if you have someone who really wants what you have the price will usually be higher than if you are trolling for a buyer. Looking for what similar i...

Re: What do you use to wipe off your knives with?

I think the "second" type is just regular mineral oil with scent (clove oil?) added.

Either will work on knives; I use the plain but that's just my preference.

Old cotton t-shirts are my favorite cloth; by the time I'm willing to give up an old favorite it's gotten pretty soft!
