:) S-K,
Is it at all possible that they were part of a field surgeons' kit? The others are really stunning, marked Down. London and several marked Ferguson
with no other address. Cheers,

Down London: Taxidermy Knife?

::ds:: ::ds:: Small folding knife with locking backsprings by Down,London, a celebrated maker of surgical instruments. Beautifully made folder with what I suspect are silver plated blades.The person I got the knife from said that is was a taxidermy knife and part of a much larger set?? Come in :P S-...

::tu:: Thanks upnorth, That is an excellent idea; 'make it more pocket friendly too! I have got rid of the rusty leaking in a bath of home-made WD-40 (2/3 kero- 1/3 light machine oil) and a lot of opening and closing. Three in one oil seems an ok lubricant, the action works great and the knife is a ...

::ds:: EricKy,
If you want the knife to use, grab a GEC in 1095, you won't be dissapointed and if by some chance you are, they will repair or replace.
These are very helpful people who stand behind their product, 100 percent. Bryan has quite a selection at very keen prices. Cheers John.

::ds:: upnorth, Thanks, but it's not all that good really. It possibly should have been done by a pro. but if all the canyons were removed from the pen blade, there would be nothing left. It's a compromise at best; I have maintained the integrity of the piece but there is red active rust everywhere ...

Old Rodgers Knife: Cleaner.

::ds:: ::ds:: Old Rodgers knife, half way there. Still lots to do! Craters with rust; but have been able to establish edges and you could carry this knife and
actually cut things. The pen blade is an ugly shape but there wasn't a
lot of choice. ::tu:: ::tu::

IMO, you have done brilliantly and just enough! Keep a light coat of oil/ 3 in one on metal parts. The scales look fantastic- stopping the deterioration

Hi upnorth, No! What I will do though is remove gaps from edges and gently lift the large rust clumps off; internally the knife is a miracle but with mineral oil and 0000 steel wool I will remove rust without damage to the patina. With W-D40 soak and a stainless steel razor blade stubborn rust can b...

::ds:: ::ds:: Hi upnorth, Soak the knife for a few days inW-D40 in a plastic bag, then carefully slice off any stubbon rust with a stainless steel razor blade, which won't affect the patina- mineral oil and 0000 steel wool will remove the eazy stuff and toothpaste will do wonders for the scales. Hi upnorth, ::ds:: ::ds:: I'd give the knife a good steep bevel with old diamonds, being careful not to scratch the patina and take off just enough metal to remove the gaps; if you have the medium size ezy-lap (6") take the lap to the knife blade and not the blade to the lap and establish a rat...

Hi marcinek, Occasionally I get lucky! But you have to be out there, rain or shine and early.
You wouldn't believe how silky the action is on this one; smooth then snap. I think knife parts were more highly polished in the old days, especially the under side of backsprings ::tu:: Cheers John.

:P :P Hi jonnie f, 4" closed but big and nicely chunky. Acceptably sharp with well and even cut bevels, very nicely presented edges in fact, but I'd like this one to " Shave a mouse to sleep". Love this pattern even more in the Penn. Conress with a spear blade instead of 2 sheeps foot...
