Re: Edwards Sons & Co. Half Whittler

Hi guys. I made the original post of the half whittler. The information I gave came from Bruce Voyles as I bought the knife in one of his auctions and I'm assuming it's correct.

The handles should be acrylic on that one. It is only 4 or 5 years old.

Re: Question about Fight'n Roosters

It is a nice knife Lyle. I have had all of those 1/2 whittlers that were made in 1987. There were 6 celluloids, 2 pearls, and 1 stag. I still have the pearls, stag, and 1 celluloid in my collection.

Re: Question about Fight'n Roosters

My old eyes play tricks on me sometimes too :) I think Fight'n Rooster started using acrylic around 2005 or so. Possibly a little earlier. I'm just going by memory which plays tricks on me sometimes too.

Re: Question about Fight'n Roosters

No disrespect to knifetime but that knife was made in 1987 and is celluloid. Roosters on the shield not dogs. I would do as the others have said and store it out in the open.

Thanks KT. Yours are very nice as well. I have quite a few Fight'n Rooster stockmans. I guess I need to get busy and take some pics. I'm quite sure that I have shown the ones above before but that's all that I have pics of.

I haven't sharpened or carried many Fight'n Roosters but I've never had any trouble getting them sharp. I have one in my pocket right now that will easily shave the hair on my arm.

I don't know of any list for post '94 knives. Most Fight'n Roosters made '94 and back are in the 'Fight'n Rooster Knives' book by Jim Parker.

A bolsterless pearl half whittler. I would have to get it out and look but I think this one has the Celebrated tang stamp. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/images/forum_archives/c71-switchboy-roosterpearlhalfwhittler.jpg Stag half whittler. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/images/forum_archi...

Re: Need some help with a Rooster

Phillip I think your whittler was released about 3 years ago which does not correspond with your tang stamp. Your knife was made with left over blades from the past. I have never really thought that the shadow (bolsterless) were of lower quality although they may seem that way because they don't hav...

Re: Need some help with a Rooster

As far as I know, Fight'n Rooster never used a stock number. They didn't make very many of those whittler like yours. I can't remember now but I think they made less than 20 of them. Hope this helps.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............

Thanks guys.

Jerry, it's pretty primitive. I just use a piece of 1X6 board with a piece of black felt held on each side by rubber bands. You can get those felt squares at Wal-Mart in the craft section. I have tried different colors but black seems to work best for me.

Re: Canittlers with bosters only on the main blade side?

Mr. Frank produced bare head knives all along but I think you are asking about bare head Fight'n Rooster club knives. When I get time I will look at my club knife collection and see. To my knowledge there isn't a list of Fight'n Rooster knives made after 1994. Here is a pre 1982 bare head trapper bu...

Re: Canittlers with bosters only on the main blade side?

It was made that way. Mr. Frank did several patterns that way. When a pocket knife only has bolsters on one end it is called a bare head. Here is a Congress from my collection.
