Knife Identification Help

A friend of mine sent me pictures of a fixed blade knife from Spain and I told him I'd inquire here if anybody knows the maker. He sent pictures to Muela and they said it was not theirs.

Thanks Bill

Thank you for the information Wayne.

CASE 1981 P172 WITH 3 HANDLE PINS

Did Case make a 1981 P172 Buffalo with 3 handle pins instead of 5?

The Premier series knives were all built in Titusville, PA and used the oldest Schatt Morgan tang stamp.

The New York tang stamp was used on the Premier Series. Here is a link to the Premier Series thread viewtopic.php?f=61&t=15483&hilit=premier

It was also the oldest Schatt & Morgan tang stamp 1897-1902

I have no opinion on the knife as I'm not an expert. It sure looked good to me, they all do. Here is an old thread from 2006 viewtopic.php?t=1967

KJ the OK tang stamp is one of the Kainuun Tommi smiths Olavi Kemppainen. Here is a link to Kainuun Tommi Puukko, you can find Olavi Kemppainen at the bottom of the page. http://www.kainuunpuukko.com/tommi-puukot-sarja. The only site I'm familiar with that has any info on older Finnish puukkos and o...

Re: Knife identification

KJ I believe the YP mark is the current one. The last set of pictures in the nordiska knivar post show Antti Mäkinen forging puukko blades and they are stamped with the YP mark.

Yrjö Puronvarsi started the YP Taonta smith.

It's probably cheaper to post the ebay auction in this subforum and not spend big bucks the scammers are asking for a fake Case knife.

Re: whats up with the case xx prize on amazon.ca?

I think this is what the op is referring to. https://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=case+knife+00133 Click on the more buying choices(new) and the top four sellers are in the $27 plus range. They look like new sellers who all have other similar items for sal...

Scott I believe it's a Jeff White knife, possibly an English Trade Knife. He used to have a subforum on BushcraftUSA, but now he sells on ebay and amazon. I think terryl308 is right about the wood. The curly maple handles is what made me think of Jeff White right away.
