Re: Sportcolbs
I think buying and selling knives is a hobby for him. I believe he is a developer by trade. My guess is the knives he sells twice have been sold and returned

Re: DALTON KNIFE SHOW
I was there for about 3 1/2 hours Sat. I was fortunate in getting a Remington Scout in great shape. Beautiful bone. Sharpened a little but still visable BSA etch. Also purchased a six blade Remington Camp with the round cartridge shield. Beautiful bone. No snapon small blade but other 5 snap hard in...

I know him and know his son even better. He traded guns and Winchester memorabilia in the Chattanooga area for years and was considered an honest albiet shrewd trader who amassed quite a collection. He moved out of town so I didnt see or hear of him for 20 or so years until I got back into knives an...

Re: NEEDS HELP WITH REMOVING INK AND STICKER TAGS
I agree with the other guys....Leave it alone until you can identify what it is. As to removing sticker residue nothing works better than plain old lighter fluid. Put drop on cloth or tissue and rub over residue then dry. Works on any surface. It also will leave any patina intact

Re: Remington Fish Toothpick
I'm no expert but I collect the old Remingtons and the previous posts are both correct. The straight line stamp was used on the less expensive contract knives of the UMC era and yes that pattern was reproduced by someone (Cant remember who but probably Camillus) in the 1980's. This knife looks like ...

Re: Where did you get most of your knives?
Im with Jerry. EBAY has just too much selection. I would have to travel to dozens of knife shows to have that much to select from. Yes I , like everyone else, gets disappointed with an EBAY purchase occasionally but the $ I save not having to travel to dozens of shows more than covers the bad buy. I...

Re: Questions on "forced patina"
I have a related question. I collect older knives and have three (Rem Bullet Trapper, XX Toothpick and Tested Coke Bottle Hunter) that are really nice except someone polished the blades. Any ideas on how to dull the shine. I heard cut an apple.

Re: Miller Brothers barlow
Not trying to put words in Rattlesnakes mouth but I think he thought it WAS authentic. Anyone can get fooled. Are you saying we should get every knife authenticated before offering it for sale. Should we have a grading service and have them "slabbed" like coins. Also, what he paid for the ...

Could you post a link to Bernards forun that you all are talking about. I found his site but could not find a section discussing this knife. I recently bought a Viking (Ka Bar) hatchet knife from Rattlesnake that I'm very pleased with. I should be getting a Kinfolks folding hunter from him today. I'...
