Re: How do you take your coffee?

1 or 2 cups a day. It isn't much but I don't feel well if a don't have my morning cup. 1 part ground coffee to 8 parts water, nothing added, no decaf. I have espresso, french press and drip filter machines, they all work fine for me, I normally use a cheap drip machine because it is simple an easy t...

Re: Hobbies other than knives

Oh yes I have hobbies. I'm retired so I have the time. Unfortunately a small pension, so only inexpensive things.

Some simple crafts can be seen in my website.

Lately I have been making and playing nose flutes, they can be seen in my blog, or in my Youtube channel.

Re: Fall Classic

The Yankees played four games during preseason in Mexico City in 1968, they lost the first one and won the other three. My dad got tickets behind the plate for that first game played on March 18. I found the starting lineups for the one I attended: Yankees: Horace Clarke, 2b Roy White, lf Mickey Man...

Re: Fall Classic

The good thing about rooting for the Yankees is that over the years you get to see them win more often than others. In Mexico I am a fan of the "Diablos Rojos". In MLB I've been a fan of the Yankees since I was a teenager. I went to see them when they came to Mexico City in 1968. They lost...

Re: Hear of a Good One Lately

Maybe too much truth... I once heard another story with a similar idea. Something about a soccer game where the referee thinks it is unfair and tries to help the weaker team, therefore messing up the game (like some governments end up messing up the economy). And, since this a thread for jokes, here...

Hello Dale, I did not answer in that other thread. I am doing fine, retirement has been good. Will try to come around more often. ------------------ So it is a good time for political jokes. I heard this with something other than Democrats and Republicans but I think it fits. In a class of political...

How Have you Been? Started there in 1969 I'm fine and enjoying retirement, sorry I haven't come around the forum much lately (I did post a joke the other day...). I started at UCLA in January 1970, so we were there at the same time. It's a big place so not likely we met. I started as a physics majo...

He he, I'm Mexican and more of a baseball fan, but I can watch other foreign country sports. I was a foreign student in the USA in the 70's, first at UCLA then at University of Michigan. I'll go with the Bruins, though they were better at basketball back then. Mitch, when were you at UCLA?. I have g...

LT. It's great to hear from you and see some of your stuff, I haven't visited much lately either, seems the world keeps on turning and moves us around elsewhere, but we gotta come back every once in a while.

It was in the 1960's that my dad taught me how to use one, we had no competitions in Mexico. He he, I too have gotten funny stares when showing them to the younger generation, I've been asked how could I get through school without a calculator, I have to remind them that we didn't have PC's, interne...

I made me a slide rule

I have several slipsticks from my high school and college years, and for a while I've had the idea of making one, finally took the time to do it. For the scales I scanned one of my old ones and made it all with stuff found around the house: cardboard, glue stick, cellophane tape, plastic from some p...

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread

Got pics of a few more. First is a German fixed blade that my dad gave me sometime in the mid 1960's, it has no stampings but one side reads in a faded etch: "Filus Solingen Stainless" (Filus was the name of the store where it was bought). It came with a bone handle made in two parts pinne...

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread

Is it made by Camillus?
Yes, main blade is stamped:

Camillus
New York
U.S.A.

Interesting that there are no markings about Camillus on the box.

Feliz Navidad.

Do you use the navajas or just collect them? I like the looks of them, but I wonder how sturdy they are. I bring this up again after taking a better look at how my navajas are constructed. In the two better ones: each side, bolsters and liner, are a single piece of brass, held together in the front...

Do you use the navajas or just collect them? I like the looks of them, but I wonder how sturdy they are. I'm more of an accumulator than a collector, and most knives I have get some use. My navajas, made by Exposito, are good, not his top of the line and maybe a bit rough in the finish department b...
