From what I've read on them, they date to around '66 or '67.

Re: Camillus US Pocket Knife, Utility
I suppose you could always pick up another one on ebay or some other auction site and use the spring from that one. You might be able to find one with a blade that some fool took a grinder to or some other similar wear/abuse issues that no one wants to bid on and get it fairly cheap.

Re: Any thoughts on Condor knives?
I've been thinking recently about getting one of the Toloza knives, based on the price and Condor's general reputation. Once again Ewe Toob has me fearing the demise of literacy, at least at the level of social application.

Need more and better pictures. Handle should be marked on opposite side...any reason that side isn't shown?
I also don't see a pommel/tang nut.

That same Camillus document is also found here: http://www.collectors-of-camillus.us/Hi ... -1945s.pdf
I'm guessing that is where they got it from, and I find it easier to navigate.

Sometimes if you ask Buck a well worded question in an email, they might help you find your answers. I've found them to be extremely helpful sometimes in this regard.

Very nice examples! I've always liked Ideals and most any knife decended from the design. Is your Giant Jack a Colonial or United Machine and Tool?

Re: Are these knives available?
If you don't object to older, American made ones, you can still find them in unmolested form on ebay at fairly decent prices. I went through a period a couple years ago where I basically stocked up on some mint barlow examples, I think 5 or 6, for less than a C-note. Imperial, Colonial, Camco (early...

I've used the 10X loupe I've got on the lens of my camera to get difficult close up shots of tang markings. Takes a little fiddling around at first to get it right, but the results I've gotten were worth it.

Blue, how's the retention on that sting sheath? Is there a kydex liner or something that holds it secure?

Re: Some of my favorites
Phil - those knives of yours are nice! I really like the blade shape on that Bravo Jerry - My guess on your Camillus is that it wasn't made for issue, mainly based on the handle not being coated with that Ox-blood brown or black coating, which would be spec. Other than that, I'm pretty sure there wo...

I've never seen that tang stamp...is it a current Taylor knife? Seller alludes to it looking just like some Schrade Walden knife Parker made in '76? I didn't know Schrade lent out it's markings to other concerns...I'm confused.

Re: Knife from Grand Father WWII Pacific?
You're right, Jerry. It's what the Marines designated as a 1219c2, or fighting/utility knife, which was likely theater altered. The Navy designated them as the Mark 2 (Mk2), and is the name most collectors know them as, including the second generation, post '62 versions that weren't branch specific....
