Item # 21454 - KUTMASTER USCG APPROVED 1944 - 796, Rope Knife, Very Nice Old Knife
30_21454_1253287189_1.JPG
More Details

I am listing some knives which I recently acquired in a small collection. There are some very average knives and some really nice knives. There are some really unusual knives. Most are not pricey and I will try to offer them reasonably priced. Please keep in mind that Priority Mailing cost is included in each amount.                     #32

TOTAL NUMBER OF KNIVES :  1

MAKER :   Kutmaster

PATTERN :  Rope knife, USCG - 796.

CLOSED LENGTH :  4 1/4 inches long.

HANDLES :  Wood and I believe it is cocobolo. There is a tight pin crack on the front side at the left or lower pin.

TANG STAMPS :  The tang is stamped APPROVED (over) USCG (over) 1944-796 (over) KUTMASTER (over) UTICA, NY USA.

CONDITION :  This is a knife that I like to refer to as one with character.  It reflects use and sharpening, though I estimate not much sharpening. There is a dark patina on the blade and some staining. The steel bolsters are darkly stained and have some pitting. Liners are brass.

DAMAGE :  Aside from the pin crack mentioned above, no damage is noted.

AGE :  1944

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN :  USA

BLADE WEAR :  Minimal.

SHIELD AND BLADE ETCH :   This knife has neither shield nor etch.

SNAP :  Excellent, opening and closing and with a strong half stop.

ADDITIONAL INFO :   This is a fine old knife that is illustrated on page 104 of Silvey's book "Pocket Knives of the United States Military".  I will deliver it to you in the USA by Priority Mail for $75.00.

Insurance is optional with the buyer and is recommended.
