The Condor Bush Knife is a unique design from world-renowned and award winning knife and tool designer Arlan D. Lothe. The design concept comes from ancient tools used in the South of Europe for generations, both on the farm and in the sporting fields. To this day a smaller version of this multi-functional tool is used by the Italian Boy Scouts; it is simply called the "Scout Knife".
The long straight blade can be used as a knife, hatchet, and axe or clever. The hooked edge can be used as a brush hook and scythe for cutting many materials in and around a campsite. Needless to say the hook also provides an effective weapon. This blade will cut in both directions, swinging it right and left and up and down.
POSZEGRIP HANDLES are made of a special Santoprene for strength and just the right amount of softness to provide a true cushioned grip. All the handles have a non-slip texture. The special CONDOR TK blue/grey color was selected not only to make the handles distinctive, but to also help one locate the tool if it is laid down anywhere, particularly on the ground. All the molded handles feature full tang construction and all feature a metal lanyard eyelet that passes through the tang for added strength.
The shovel and machetes handles are made from solid Polypropylene and the wood handles are hickory-like hard woods from South America.
BLASTED SATIN FINISH is achieved by sand or bead blasting the metal part.
ULTRABLAC2 FINISH is a black oxide finish for greater metal protection and to provide a more subdued Para Military like look. This special black oxide is actually cooked into the metal at 285°F. This finish meets and exceeds several military specifications from the U.S. and from other countries around the world.
MYSTIC CAMO FINISH Is a secret finishing process developed by Condor Tool & Knife to add a random black and grey camo pattern to its blades. This process involves no painting or other surface additions. This special finish becomes part of the blade surface and will not ware off.
BLADES are made from German 420HC (high carbon) surgical quality stainless steel and are heat treated and annealed to about 53 Rockwell (a measure of hardness). Every edge is hand finished and polished to razor sharpness.
SAFETY ROLL PINS most Condor axes and hatchets have a stainless steel safety roll pin that goes through the head and handle. We added this feature when it was noted that competition speed chopping axes have this feature to keep the axe heads from flying off the handle and into the audience. We want our axes to perform better than others and be safe as well.
VACUUM ASSIST INVESTMENT CASTING is a special manufacturing process we use to make our axes and some knives in 440C stainless steel. This process allows for greater product detail, strength and manufacturing economics. This process allowed us to engineer our patent pending CIP (cast-in-place) wedge on all CTK axes and hatchets, where the wedge that holds the head to a wood handle is actually a part of the head.
THE DENDRITIC EDGE is a result of a phenomena that takes place during the investment casting process, where microscopic particles of carbide are formed at an edge and then exposed during sharpening. These microscopic carbides improve the edges cutting ability. Cutting tools with the Dendritic edge simply cut faster and stay sharp longer.
CONDOR LEATHER SHEATHS are high quality, heavy duty, hand crafted black leather. Many of the designs feature a swiveling belt loop that allows the tool to swing out of the way while moving through brush or the jungle. The tool can also be swung out of the way while riding in a truck or car, thus not poking one in the side as a conventional knife sheath. The CTK Combat Knife features a patent pending Double lock, Double Carry sheath that can be worn in a high or low position. The high position features a double locking design to keep the knife in the sheath. The low position is for normal carry and the high position is for concealment.
