BLADE WEAR:   The master blade appears to have been used but not sharpened. The other two blades appear to have been unused. In order to restore the edge the master blade I have stropped it.

MADE IN:   JAPAN

ADDITIONAL INFO:      The Stockman (model #2060) is from the Easy Rider™ series of Kershaw knives. I don’t have catalogs that go back to 1974 when Kershaw started, but the closest I have been able to come to dating this knife is about 1979. I believe the Easy Rider Series began around 1977 (+/- 1 or 2 years). The only brochure I have found that list the Easy Rider Series list Kershaw’s address as Ridgeway Road in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The next address that I have for Kershaw is on Jean Road in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The Jean Road address appears on their 1980 catalog pages. It was the Jean Road address that I first picked up an order of knives for the cutlery store. That was approximately 1981 or 1982. About 1986 Kai Cutlery purchased Kershaw Knives from Pete Kershaw and at that time Kershaw relocated their office and warehouse to SW. Parkway Ave. in Wilsonville, Oregon. Given that the only Easy Rider brochure I have been able to find has the Ridgeway Road address on it; the logical conclusion is that that brochure was printed prior to the 1980 moved to Jean Road. Based on the fact that that is the only piece of Kershaw literature I have seen that mentions the Stockman #2060, I am left to conclude that the Stockman #2060 was dropped from the Easy Rider series prior to the printing of the 1980 catalogs. That would mean the Stockman #2060 was probably not made after 1978 or 1979.

Although I have been around Kershaw knives from about 1981 through 1992, managing the cutlery store within about a 40 minute drive of their headquarters this is the first model #2060 I have seen. I suspect the #2060 is been discontinued for at least 35 years. This is the first one I have seen.

Item # 60764 - Kershaw – Easy Rider™ model #2040 Stag
37_60764_1483768708_1.jpg
More Details

MAKER:   Kershaw

PATTERN:   Stag model #2040

LENGTH (closed):   4-1/8”

HANDLES:   Stainless steel with Rose wood inlay

BLADES: 3-1/4” locking blade

LINERS:  Stainless steel

TANG STAMPS:   TANG STAMPS:   KERSHAW/OREGON USA

SECONDARY TANG STAMP: BY KAI JAPAN/2060

CONDITION: Very Good

DAMAGE: Has wear to blade, handle and frame consistent with use. Does have one mark on the backside of the blade that appears to be caused by some sort of tool, perhaps a rotary tool.

BLADE WEAR:   Approx 20%

MADE IN:   Japan

ADDITIONAL INFO:      This is the Stag (model #2040) from the Easy Rider™ series of Kershaw knives. I don’t have catalogs that go back to 1974 when Kershaw started, but from the information I have been able to dig up around the web the Easy Rider Series was one of the earlier series of knives that Kershaw made. I would date this series circa 1977. I believe that’s accurate within two years on either side of the date. The series is called Easy Rider because the handles have no sharp edges to them in the knife fits quite comfortably in the pocket, even one this large.

This would be an excellent EDC if someone wish to carry this knife.

Item # 50053 - Kershaw D.W.O. #3000 Second Generation
37_50053_1412103118_1.jpg
More Details

MAKER:   KERSHAW

PATTERN:   D.W.O. #3000

LENGTH (closed):   3-1/4”

HANDLES:   Co-Polymer

BLADES:   AUS8A clip blade- Lock back

LINERS:   Stainless steel

TANG STAMPS:   KERSHAW/D.W.O.   Rear Stamp: 3000/JAPAN

CONDITION:   New in box

DAMAGE:   None noted

BLADE WEAR:   None

MADE IN:   Japan

ADDITIONAL INFO:      I believe this to be the second model of the Kershaw D.W.O. It has the spanner screw like the earlier model, but it does not have the OREGON USA tang stamp. In addition it has the Patent Number stamped on the mark side of the lock release bar, something not seen on earlier models. This knife comes in the box with two pieces of paper. The first is the story of Delley Wade Officer, the cowboy for whom the knife was named. The second paper is a mini accordion folded Kershaw catalog. This catalog says “Printed in U.S.A.” and is dated 1/90.  A great addition to any Kershaw collection!

MAKER:   KERSHAW

PATTERN:   D.W.O. #3000

LENGTH (closed):   3-1/4”

HANDLES:   Co-Polymer

BLADES:   AUS8A clip blade

LINERS:   Stainless steel

TANG STAMPS:   KERSHAW/OREGON USA             Rear Stamp: 3000/JAPAN

CONDITION:   Near mint

DAMAGE:   None noted

BLADE WEAR:   Has been used but appears unsharpened.

MADE IN:   Japan

ADDITIONAL INFO:      I believe this to be the first generation of Kershaw D.W.O.s introduced in 1985 or 1986. It is identical to the one I purchased when they first came out. It has the OREGON USA on the tang stamp, which was changed in the late 1980s, about 1988 or 1989 as I recall. I was managing a cutlery store about 30 miles from the Kershaw headquarters at that time and Kershaw was our best selling cutlery brand. This knife has the early spanner type screws that holds the blade and handle in place. I believe this is one of the first models of the D.W.O. Add this to your Kershaw collection!
