MAKER: IXL by George Wostenholm
PATTERN : Pearl pen knife.
CLOSED LENGTH : 3 3/8th inches long.
HANDLES : Mother-of-pearl with no cracks and no chips.
TANG STAMPS : The tangs of both blades are stamped IXL GEORGE (over) WOSTENHOLM (over) SHEFFIELD (over) ENGLAND. CONDITION : Never carried, used or sharpened.
DAMAGE : None AGE : 1890 to 1971. Since the etch is FIRTH STAINLESS, and since there is no OIL THE JOINTS stamp, I believe the knife dates to somtime after 1920 when stainless came into common use, and prior to 1930.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN : England
BLADE WEAR : None
SHIELD AND BLADE ETCH : There is no shield and the master blade is etched FIRTH (over) STAINLESS, inside a border.
SNAP : Outstanding on both blades, opening and closing. ADDITIONAL INFO : I will deliver this knife to you in the USA by Priority Mail for $125.00. Insurance is optional with the buyer and is recommended.
